This took a bit of work to get right but here is a shot of CodeCharge 2.X generating a grid page where everything outside of the grid comes from a Content Management System including database connections and page level security.
The page layout is 100% html template driven using KudzuASP and the template is selectable at runtime by the user.

Now, I wonder if I can do the same thing with a newer version.

I would think Yes, possible.
Depends on how you made it work in CCS2, but CCS3 and CCS4 build on CCS2 largely, so again depending on the method you used it should be feasible.
Would like to know how you did it, and what CMS it is.

The CMS is a home grown item called Webray. I use for building simple business websites. It is not a complex CMS, its a simple framework for applications that need security, menus, links and the ability to add new content quickly.
Here is a the CMS in action: http://asinusacres.homescape360.com/ - I am considering open sourcing this application.
It is templated with a template engine called KudzuASP (also home grown) that I give away for free. Here is the link to the KudzuASP Template Engine.

I added my CMS include in front of the Common event at the project level and modified page events accordingly. The show page event for each page for each page contains the display logic only for the CC generated grids and forms and is invoked by a callback from the template engine... all other page foprmatting is removed.
