peterr,
Any chance that the forum code will be updated to keep bogus entries out??? I am starting to see alot of them popping up.

I couldn't agree more that's why I posted this topic. I wanted to see what can be done and or what feature can turned on.

I'm using Outlook express to read/write and track the forum.
I can right click a thread and put a block on it so at least I dont have to
see MehMets V*i*a*g*r*a posts.

Hi,
We're considering making forum postings available only to our customers, while everyone would have read access.
What do you think about such solution?

Workable, but limiting and maybe shying off people.
What about a mix Peter, leaving 1 maybe 2 forums open for general use.
That could be the Newbie forum, although I don't really like classifying
people.
Jobs-available and Jobs-wanted are forums to attract work, could also be
targeted at non-owners?
Might even be worthwile to (assign/invite someone) make a readable forum and
fill it with a selection of FAQ (in the litteral sense)

How about requiring all users to register (with registration activation feature). This way any human user can still participate.

Walter, mamboBROWN,
Thanks for your opinion. The idea about allowing posts by our customers (validaing CCS license) came up for couple reasons:
1. It is uncertain that forum registration will eliminate the problem, especially that there are many automated systems for submitting spam to forums, plus some people will manually register on forums to post spam there.
2. We had cases of people using cracked CCS versions and participating in the forums, like this one: http://forums.codecharge.com/posts.php?post_id=69038.
Some of our customers also pointed such cracks as a reason to limit access to certain CCS features and areas only to registered users (in addition to fighting cracks, which we do).
Of course validing CCS license of forum participants may be little extreme, therefore wasn't enabled yet.
The registration process would definitely help, however, I'm just not sure if this will be a half-baked solution that will then require additional changes until we finally implement CCS license validation anyway.
Well, let's see if there are other opinions and then hopefully make some improvements.
