Is it possible to create new theme add it to the theme list to pick when needed? If so, how?

yeah, you can copy themes
menue: tools-> themes....
there choose a theme, click copy ,give a name
you then have a "new theme" you have to change the theme with
a tool that can deal CSS(Cascadeing style sheets) to make it look as you want. there is also a build in theme manager, with it you can alter a theme too. click tools->themes... choose a theme(your copied one in this case) and then klick on modify...
