My Apache web server is running on a Red Hat 9 box.
On this box there is a script "/scripts/get_Next_Tag_Number"
This script requests the next available tag number from an
external system and puts the data in the
file "/data/the_Next_Tag_Number"
This file "/data/the_Next_Tag_Number" will always
contain 1 field on 1 line.
The previous tag number is always deleted before this data
file is updated.
From CCS how do I:
1. Run script "/scripts/get_Next_Tag_Number"
2. Wait for the script to finish. This takes a fraction of a second.
3. Get the data from the "/data/the_Next_Tag_Number" file.
4. Display this data in a Label field.

I haven't done that, but since no one else responded I could say that you could use the same method as without CCS. Don't limit yourself to CCS but look for any PHP solution. There are plenty of them on Google.
Here are sample searches: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=execute+php+script http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=execute+php+program http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=php+read+file+content

Hello Peter,
since I don't see another way to contact you I'll try this one.
Can You please have a look at the thread "object references in include pages"?
I would really like to see your comment on that, I'm pretty sure You can help me
(and Damian)?!
Sorry for "missusing" that thread ;-(
hoping for an answer
