Yes, it can be unlimited levels in the database. Though the Directory component displays 2 categories at a time, thus the users would drill down to view the lower level categories.

Is there an example of this?
I have a directory which contains
Top Level : Environment Names - [Table - Environment]
Next Level : Resources associated with the environment [Table - EnvElement}
I would like another level which contains the dates the environments are booked for [ Table - Boonkig]. Each level is in a seperate tabl which I use use to populate the control?

The taxonomy (categorization) is rather a different entity from the data. Thus categories may be one thing, but the dates look like the data.
Our standard Directory example looks quite similar to what you described. For example at http://examples.codecharge.com/ExamplePack/Directory/Directory.php
I can drill down through 2 level categories to Computers and Internet > Software , and then I see the data related to that category: http://examples.codecharge.com/ExamplePack/Directory/Di...?category_id=31
The data can contain dates, but this is no longer part of the taxonomy and doesn't apply to the directory itself.
