Hello to all !

I now have my Blank Transaction Batch Editable Grid working ! (see thread on Creating a Totally Blank Editable Grid starting 6/30/04).

I am working with PHP/MySQL.

I followed the "Multi-Step Registration" example and have my scheme working.

I enter a batch number into a Record Form, it writes it to my batch table and then takes me to a redirect page and brings up that new record via the batch name and newly created primary key auto increment number. Beautiful. All the parameters are passing between pages and triggering the right steps.

I now added the code for the "Auto Add Row in an Editable Grid" example.

I have that working properly.

Now for the last piece !

Everytime I auto add a new row I need to set default values in that new row.

The user id for that medical procedure transaction line entry, the batch number, the entry date and time, and other defaults that may be required as part of each transaction record from auto row to auto row for that daily batch of transactions.

Once the entire batch of transactions is entered into the editable grid, it is submitted to the table. This is the raw data for producing billing statements, workload reports, etc down the monthly processing cycle. It all starts here with this editable grid.

I am experimenting with it and have learned a few things, but has anyone in the forum done anything like this yet ? Pre-populate data in each new line of an Auto Add Row in an Editable Grid ?

I can see that things happen when an element loses focus. What is behind the scenes in the code example ? Are there other properties and methods I can use ? Is the proper solution a mix of pure Client side Javascript and Events triggered back at the Server ? I'm a newbie to web programming but I am learning fast by studying CCS.

I have looked through the forum and don't see anything regarding this specific situation. Any help, tips, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I continue to experiemnt.

Best regards to all in the brotherhood and sisterhood of programming and software engineering !

C. Parke

The 'Default Value' property for each data entry control
should do what you need.
