If I want to write a custom fuction for a page and I may need to call that function in any type of event either before show, after show etc... where should I put it?

Put in your events source (probably at the top), outside of any other function.

You can also add it at the bottom of the common file, that will make it available on any page in your project. if you put it in the white section it will survive regeneration of the common file.
