Hi,
maybe you can extend some features of file upload component with some useful
things. For example, if we uploading images it would be nice to define
resizing and automatic generated thumbnails.

yes it would be great.
I coded a resize, make thumbnail, add watermark component for myself. It is implemented as actions and uses CCS interface. A little work to be complete. I use Perl and coded it with Perl. Which language do you use ?

Or make the 'template' to accept a database field as target and handle all
the upload, copy from temp, addslashes and so on tedious work involved with
uploading images, word documents, excel sheets and other binary data into a
database as BLOB (binary Large Object).
