 modifying form action

I have developed several grids that call the same record form (php, =
mysql, linux). How do I modify the record form to return to the =
appropriate grid form. I think I need to modify $sActionFileName, but =
where (which event and what level page or form?) Is $HTTP_REFERER =
reliable or should I set session variable for each grid and modify based =
on that. As always, help is much appreciated.
