I am still observing the discussion group on the subject of CC againts CCS.
I don't really see anyone saying "...OK lets all change to CCS" .

I am not concern about pricing but more to the usability of the two. Can
anyone tell whether...or..rather why should a CC user migrate to CCS? Or is
there a function, task, or something that is missing in CC that is only
found in CCS.

This because from the comment given; CCS works, commands and give different
results compare to CC. Am I correct or I am missing something.

Please comment everyone.
TQ

Dharma

Hi Dharma,

well, CCS is great but many things can be done much faster with CC. If you
can code than there is really no need to use CCS because you can add all
missing features yourself.

So if you have only one big project then use CCS (it will take you some
time...) but use CC if you have many small or medium size projects.

Regards,

Michael

Dharma,

I feel CC and CCS are targeted at 2 different kinds of developers ... in CC
is more towards beginners and novice programmers or in case you just wanted
to chunk out a few pages and no matter how they functioned or you did not
need too much customization or did not want to work on the design together
with the code..

But if you are a advanced coder, want a lot of customization, demand better
application design then there will be cases you get restricted with what's
possible in CC.... CCS really makes that possible! Having said that, it does
not mean only a champ can code in CCS.. the Builders (Wizards) in CCS do
make building apps super fast ..espically the Power Builder !!

The reason you don't see everyone switching over to CCS is due to the fact
that CCS does have a slight learning curve.. plus most people have used the
beta's .. which were buggy (as they are supposed to be :) ) and might have
found it frustrating !
Also another fact is that since CCS has just been released not everyone has
being able to find out all the features of CCS.. its just when you sit with
the tool for sometime you will start to appreciate it !

Another fact might be that if CC itself might be sufficing their needs very
well !

Since no one has taken this effort let me just list out a few questions you
should ask :-
1) Custom Coding level required ? High - CCS / Moderate - CC
2) Design Customization Required ? High - CCS / Low - CC
3) Performance of Applications? High - CCS / Moderate - CC
(Not saying that CC apps perform low.. just that at least for ASP.NET CCS
patterns are much much better to serve high number of clients)
4) Additional Features required ? Many - CCS / Satisfied - CC
( support for multiple database in a project, include external files, live
view, actions... in CCS)
5) Kind of application ? Internet Apps etc.. - CCS / Rapid Prototyping - CC
6) Price ? .. u know the answers here :)
7) Time to learn the tool ? some time - CCS / no time CC.

Hope ppl will add thier list of question too :)

Still can't make a choice .. well then the only way out is to download the
trial versions of both the tools and try them out yourself !!

CCS Fan,
Sanddy
