Can I just put in my two cents here, the vast majority of professional
web designers use Dreamweaver and ultradev, which work a dream in
conjunction with the current version of code charge. Is there a reason
for the continual pushing of front page with the next version of code
charge? Is it easier to develop for or have I completely missed
something that front page offers that would make me ditch dreamweaver?

Just curious!

I also do work with Dreamweaver - if you think Angelo and myself are the
minority, why not run a poll and see what the users think? I mean if 80%
users use Dreamweaver why bother with Frontpage?

I am also worried about this focus on such a bad app like Frontpage when
most developers use Dreamweaver/Ultradev.
If we have to use Frontpage to get full functionality in CodeCharge Studio
then its bye bye CC for all our teams.
Why use Frontpage för anything, its crap. Please CodeCharge developers,
listen to your users!

Frontpage will never get a foothold in my company. If this is truely the way
codecharge goes I'll be hanging on to my current copy pretty damned
carefully.
I use Dreamweaver for template touchups and that's the way it's going to
stay. I was hoping for a linux version but I guess that will never happen if
they hook up with M$. I dont want to use M$crap any more then I have to. So
if this is true I'll be looking for another codecharge like product pretty
soon. (hope there is one)

Oh I forgot,

The one thing I like in codecharge is the way it generates al kinds of code.
This makes it flexible and attractive to use. I dont like it when people are
forcing me to use any product. If codecharge goes with frontapge why bother
with java, perl and php. Just limit the thing to asp.
It would mean loosing a lot of buisiness though!!

Oh hell no, that wouldn't go down well. Code charge works at the moment,
if microsoft get a hold of it we'll suffer endless bugs and patch fixes,
service packs and net activation's every two seconds.

I bought windows XP pro the other day, why doesn't it tell you on the
box that you need to download 30 megabytes of patches before it works
properly!

I think you guys are getting it a bit wrong ...from what I have heard (could
be true or false..)

You are right, currently CodeCharge Studio will have a FrontPage *plug-in*,
UltraDev was avoided initially since its very difficult to integrate with
UltraDev (companies need to decide on the time-span of releases also ...
:) ).

Having said that, CodeCharge Studio will support *all* the existing
languages supported by CodeCharge like PHP, JSP, Perl, CodeFusion, ASP and
ASP.NET etc.

Remember CodeCharge Studio will be a complete product in itself, so you will
be able to generate sites like CodeCharge, but with much more flexibility!
see
[ www.CodeCharge.com/Studio ] for screen shots....

MS FrontPage integration is through a plug-in i.e. you obviously do not have
to have MS FrontPage to work with CodeCharge Studio... its an additional
benefit you can use if you want!

I guess once the product is released there could be a UltraDev plug-in
cooking :)

But it won't be wise for me to speculate too much .. the beta release is on
24th April... lets wait till we lay our hands on the beta copy :)

Hi,

will Studio also have the Netobjects Fusion plugin, or will this be in the
std product only ?

Thanks,
Mark

To answers everyone's questions and concerns:

- CodeCharge 2.0 is being enhanced to work with NetObjects Fusion.
Additional features are also being added to CodeCharge 2.0.

- CodeCharge Studio will have its own, basic HTML designer and editor,
similar to the one in Visual Studio.

- CodeCharge Studio will optionally install itself as a plug-in for MS
FrontPage.

- CodeCharge Studio will not be integrated with DreamWeaver any time soon
due to technical reasons.
However, CodeCharge Studio will allow you to use any web editor to modify
web pages externally, just like you can do with CodeCharge 2.0. However, the
key difference is that CodeCharge Studio comes with a basic web editor and
saves your pages in the form of standard .html files (in addition to .ccs
files). The benefit is that you can open those saved pages with any web
editor, including DreamWeaver, and you can modify your pages at any time,
before or after generating the code. Once you edit your .html with
CodeCharge Studio or FrontPage or DreamWeaver or any other web editor, the
generated .html will be the same as the one you edited prior to generation.
This new approach will give you much greater flexibility than previously,
and we expect that within days you will master the process of utilizing
CodeCharge Studio and DreamWeaver together.
We believe that you will be impressed with what you will see even if you use
only DreamWeaver for web design.

Regards,

CodeCharge Support

1. The Studio will alow in the design the reposition of the form buttons
(Insert, Delete, Cancel, etc.) from the Right/Botom to anywhere in the
respective form (Left, Center, Up) ?

2. Also, the forms designed in Studio will alow to change natively the
standard buttons to image-buttons (with or w/o support for changing the
button image on mouse-over, mouse-click, etc. events) ?

3. The Studio will alow to change the navigation elements with images, and
to relocate the navigation *bar* to other position on the form ? Also, the
page numbers can be relocated in the design stage ?

4. The Studio will have some kind of Script Library, that will store a user
script/event (stored on a per script language and category basis), so that
the designer can do a drag-and-drop (or copy/paste) of that script/event in
to the Events properties of a form ? And that Script Library can be shared
with other developers, imported/exported into/from Studio to other
instalation on other workstation ?

5. In the design stage, Studio can alow you to position a form anywhere on
the page ? How about a text, static image, applet, flash, ActiveX object ?

6. The Studio can work with multiple headers, so you can assign to diferent
pages a diferent header/footer ?

7. The Studio will alow you to adjust the space (vert/horiz) between the
forms on a page, or between the header(footer) and the rest of the forms ?

8. Can Studio replicate a page or form onto a number of other page (so you
can include a menu on many pages), so you can edit just one page (not like
in CC2.0, when you copy/paste a menu form on every page, and if you make a
slight change you are forced to re-copy/paste that form on every page or to
do manualy that change on every page) ?

9. The Studio styles management are better then the CC2.0 ? Will alow me to
have a wider range of style elements to modify INSIDE of Studio (not with
DW, UD or FP) ? Can i do a diferent style on a specific Text Box, or
navigation elements, buttons, or on a Field Caption ?

10. The Studio will have a wider properties for a form or field, like focus
the keyboard on THAT field, or confirm delete for THAT record form (with
customizable message), to show the total numbers of records on THAT form,
etc.

CC includes basic html editor, suitable for most button repositions,=20

Yes , there is image button control type for this=20

Yes , these scripts are called "Actions" , they are [ex/im]portable.=20
They are mix of XSL and usual scripts.=20

Text and image can be moved, applets and flash are not yet supported in=20
desing mode (in place of this cc html code editor can be used).=20

>=20

CCS uses a powerul mechnism called includable pages , which is a =

Covered by includable page functionality.=20

All elements can easily be formatted from Format Property tab that =

I am currently trying CC 2.0 with every intention to purchase. It there an
upgrade/cross-grade to Studio? It looks like Studio is what I want. Do I
wait or jump in with CC 2.0?

Never mind my previous post about upgrade/cross-grade. I read older posts an
received my answer.
Thanks for your understanding.

I use Dream Weaver Myself and have been programming for 13 Years. I say give
Yes Software a little time. All programmers have problems making things work
properly. They will get it work and we will be the first to know about it.
Believe me they are working on the problem as we leave these messages. Some
things just take longer then others. I think they have done a great job so
far and the Code Charge Studio is the new beginning of a way for Programmers
like ourselves to create projects faster and therefore make a lot more
money.
Just my two cents.
