Does it take a long time to load? I feel it is much slower than when I
first deployed it, but the ISP hosting it claims it loads fast for them. So
I need other opinions to help me figure out if it's my site or maybe just my
"path" to it from home.
I've done the usual things like compacting the database and ensuring I do
proper disposing of objects when I"m done with them.
thanks,

TWENTY FIVE (yes, 25!!) Seconds to load here (Columbia Falls MT) via a 1 mbit
DSL connection in a small rural mostly blue collar town in NW Montana. IE: Its
not a huge bandwidth-sucking, contention-heavy kinda place.
It didnt load in pieces. It sat there for 24 seconds as the IE progress bar
did its little dance, and then suddenly came up all at once.
Other sites Ive been to today have been as snappy as youd expect.

About 4 seconds from Dallas on a DSL. Pretty quick to me.

Just tried it again, 5-6 seconds this time. So much for that contention
theory<bg>

Hi Don,
took about 5 Secs with 1.5 MBit DSL for me (Hamburg, Germany). Had the
same effect like Mark, loading in one piece (so my screen was all the
time blank until the content popped up). The last time a visited it
(about a month ago or so), it felt a bit faster...
Greetings,
Tobias

Took about 15-16 seconds of a blank white screen for me before it popped up.
I remember last week I was on there and it seemed even slower than that.

Hmmm, such a wide range of results! Thanks, everyone.
I guess I need to pressure my ISP a bit harder to show me they aren't at
fault. If it was the CCS stuff, it should suck continuously I'd think. I
still think they stuck me on a server with someone with millions of hits.

This question gave rise to an interesting idea for a CCS code project
A Page Loading Timer that writes this info to DB as a switchable module (ie
you can choose to run and or display it based on your rules)
If mainly implemented in JavaScript with just the last write to DB in chosen
scripting-env this could be ported to fit most CCS technologies and ensure
that the measurement is made client-side so it reflects the users loading
time.
Just a thought

Hmmm, interesting idea. Perhaps stuffing a bit of code into the onload and
onunload events of the <BODY> that would measure the elapsed time and tack
on a query parameter that could then be inspected server-side?

From The Netherlands using ADSL and the sitespeed site as submitted to this
thread.
Using the sitespeed stopwatch 00.38 seconds first time, 0.01 second time
after that 0.02.
They report my speed to the USA as 335bps.
Out of the thread comment:
Your site: OK
Your comments: OK
Keep it up, you helped me twice already even though I never asked for it,
grin.
