Hyfinity is an exciting idea... with CCS being driven by its XML files the
following site provides a very interesting concept...

http://www.hyfinity.com/Home.html

-if only CCS could output XML display from DB natively

Comments?

To respond to your "if":
http://www.gotodon.com/ccbth/syndicate/rss.asp?rssid=2 CCS can. This XML
stream is intended for a specific data consumer, the RSS aggregator (see
SharpReader at http://www.hutteman.com if you are unfamiliar with this
idea). Nothing fancy here, I just altered the ContentType from "html" to
"xml" and spewed XML tags instead of HTML tags. Granted, there is little
that CCS did to facilitate this for me, but neither did it hinder my goal.

Regarding the rest of the Hyfinity marketing babble: I hate it when guys
like them are compelled to wrap (what are probably) simple ideas in layer
after layer of "you can do this 'n that" talk while never really explaining
what they actually do or provide. There may well be something new
innovative and worthwhile but they beat around the bush too much. It reads
like most Microsoft marketing stuff.

It all sounds very much like SOAP (web services and data exchange) and
BizTalk (transformation, routing and persistence of data).

I certainly would like to see CCS accommodate web services in some fashion,
as a human-at-a-browser is only one data consumer out there on the internet.
That, and seeing some move to address your long-standing quest for
documenting how we can create plug-ins and components would have me dancing
in the streets (as disconcerting as that might be to my neighbors).

Hi Don

I knew you would be the first to reply and your post is very informative.

The key word for me is native as I have done XML for a long time to feed my
Flash applications some of which are featured on the RexDesign site. I've
tried your RSS feeds and they're flawless, nice work. The day CCS does
native XML will be a dancing in the street day here as well :-)

I cannot see any obstacles to CCS being able to do XML in both directions,
both as data source and provider, other than the obviously high workload of
this small but very talented dev team.

re: Plug-ins: not a day goes by without my wondering why the leadership of
YesSoftware ignore and neglect this extremely important aspect of the
product.

I'm a great fan of your posts here and your site.

Best Regards
Dave

Tell me more. What XML issues or limitations, specifically, are you
referring to? I don't do Flash stuff so I 'm not aware of what it requires.
Is this related to the other posts (from other people) that ask about
"supporting Flash objects" that I have seen here?
