How to hide a field in update form?

How I can hide a field when I am in a form in update mode?
example:
To insert a register I need inform an date, and when I need update that register I don't must can update that date field.

Anybody can do this?

Just insert a hidden field in the update form. If you need the current date, type CurrentDate in the default value box in the properties area in the hidden field.
