Using CCS' Excel output option produces an HTML output that can be loaded into Excel.

Newer versions of Excel recognize that the format of the file is not XLS/XLSX. As a result, Excel 1) produces a warning message when the user downloads the file and 2) will, by default, save the file as HTML when the user saves the file.

I'd like to create this file as XLS/XLSX thereby eliminating the user issues.

Recommendations, anyone?

Try using PHPExcel which is an open source library. It is very good.

Thanks for the input saseow.

At first look, it seems it requires a lot of code. Is there a way to use PHPExcel to convert the whole page at once?

Basically, what you do is pass the SQL statement to the library. You have a lot of formatting etc. options as well.
The code used is pretty straight forward and there are numerous examples in the web.
If you would like an example, send me your email address via PM and I will send you something tomorrow morning as it is nearly 8pm here at the moment.
