Ok, in CSS 5.x ... is the UpdateDB feature missing?

I see that it is in the help and when you right-click on the explorer
and try to add a feature. Any ideas why is not coming up?

Using Classic ASP.

Hmm - you are right. I think they have used 'RemoteCustomCode' and allows you to customise your own.

I think the Help is a little out of date for some of the newer features.

Haven't used it yet but looks like I need to try it out.

I never found UpdateDB very useful. It worked OK but there was no way of passing any value from the page to the update code (that I could find). So it could only carry out a fixed action. Did you manage to use it before for anything useful?

Remote Custom Code works well. You can pass back values from the page and carry out any DB operation you want _and_ pass a value back to the client for confirmation or display updating.

Actually I was thinking of RemoteDLookUp (as the useless one).

UpdateDB was actually nicely implemented - but you're right, it has gone from 5.1. RemodeDLookup is still there - as limited as ever because you can't change the Criteria expression.

You can carry out a DBUpdate using RemoteCustomCode but it's much more manual.

Yes - I was looking into that today, and the help is a little sparse, and you need to do a lot more manual stuff. I suppose it's allowing more things but you need to do them yourself.

I was looking forward to some more builders for the RemoteDBUpdates as they are becoming more important to me now - for those little 'just click and update that flag' without needing to submit the entire form. Maybe time for some smaller modal forms that handle those sorts of things.

Yes I was looking into the remoteDB update today and the new method is more work, and the Help is fairly sparse.

I preferred the simpler Update DB methods as a 'set a flag' update instead of submitting the entire form.
