I noticed that if I bring a design over from Artisteer, the new/edit window in Grid and record builder is about 50% modal and 50% not as it just gets slapped randomly on the screen with an ugly gray CLOSE button. If I use the CCS styles, the new/edit is not modal, but it gets slapped to the bottom of the page, so it is at least usable.

Some time ago I read this info in this forum that the new 5.1 CCS can show the new/edit form in a modal window, but this feature can be turned on or off. Unfortunately I cannot find this post anymore and for the life of me I cannot find where this feature can be controlled.

Can anyone help me please. Thanks

Hi - I use the modal a lot now when running the Grid and Record Builder - the first step has a tickbox for 'AJAX Form components' (or similar - away from CCS) which automatically builds the add/edit form as modal and sets the 'detail' link to show it.

You should be able to put a panel around the existing record and then add 'Features' in the properties to have modal etc. A bit more work and I haven't had to do it manually for some time, but that's where I have done it in 4.3 (modal was there, but I found it a bit flakey in .NET sites, fine in PHP sites)

Cheers

Eric
