I upgraded to the latest version and now it's worst than ever on Windows 8.
Project conversion (from previous 5.x version) screws up all my projects.
GIU crashes repeatedly.
CCS is getting worse and worse from an upgrade to another. Version 3 was stable, version 4 had bugs I could work around and version 5 is a complete mess.

What specifically are you referring to when you say it is a mess. The switch to jQuery was not easy but I am finding the new upgrade to work fine on Windows 7. There might be a local environment settings with your OS. 4.3 was stable and I used it a lot, just like every version since before Studio came out. I have been using CodeCharge since 1.0 and lived through the sorting out period of early Studio.
I have successfully converted a a 183 page project that was throwing many errors in beta. I am just glad that Yes has not abandoned Studio since there was no sign of development for years, no indications they were still around as a company except some people reported contacting support and getting responses.. The biggest failing of the company has been communicating with its customers, many drifted off to find other less capable frameworks solely because they could not trust whether they had a dead-end system based on total silence from the company. They had no touched their web site for 5 years. That is a long time of silence in the connected age.
I would suggest isolating the reproducible problems you are having and contact support with clear instructions on how to reproduce the problem. If others here are not having that problem, that is a good clue that it is a unique combination of your specific install and local environment.

There are just too many bugs to name them all:
- Popup date pickers don't work (I can add them in dev mode but they don't work in a web browser)
- Entire objects disappear from my pages. For instance, if I build an editable grid with a search form, CCS will eventually display a popup saying that the search form hasn't been found and asks to delete it (and no I didn't touch the HTML code at all so I didn't screw the form myself).
- Sometimes objects like submit buttons disappear from my pages.
- When setting the order of a MySQL query for a grid (or editable grid), the query builder disappears and the order is not set.
- Sometimes the tabs at the bottom stop working (Design/HTML/Code/Preview/Live Page)
- When switching to the HTML editor, the page is sometimes empty, I have to restart CCS.
- The publishing key stops working (F8 or CTRL+SHIFT+F8)
- Sometimes I am unable to save the page or even the entire project. Hitting the save button does nothing, I have to close CCS and start again.
- When I coding (PHP), if I type too fast, the cursor gets crazy and position itself at random places on the line I'm typing.
- When applying a Dreamweaver template to a CCS page, CCS screws up the HTML big time.
- When building grids and/or record forms, CCS inserts a <p> at the beginning of the HTML body but doesn't close it.
I've been using CCS on a daily basis for about 8 years now so I'm no newbie to this software.

And by the way, I tried running CCS as a regular user and as admin and it doesn't help at all.

Same behavior, all works fine. DatePicker, Builders, publishing, ..
Maybe some specific configuration on yours developer PC's? Beta version of IE 11 or something else.. :)

I have found 5.1 buggy as hell too. I just tried to post a action that the calendar highlight fields failed on a transition but got some forum error. Must admit thinking about buying premimum support just to give them a hard time about the bugs I am experiencing. I went to the support line but then they told me my support peroid has run out when all the request was on their bugs. Not reliable software for revsions. Running windows 7

I have the same problem with jquery conversion although conversion goes smoothly. AJAX stuff, inline datepicker, update panel etc. do not work after conversation.
Would you post what 'touches' are required?

I just tried this again minutes ago:
CCS deletes the submit button of all search forms on all pages that have been edited for the first time after project conversion. Every time.

Normaly and takking in cosideration past report.
does strange behavior happened when CCS software think Copyright has been violated. is not your case but something in your enviroment may cause CCS think is craked

Another bug: if renaming a component in design mode, CCS deletes it. If I rename it in HTML mode, it's fine.

I was having date picker problems with the converted projects, even some simple one page test projects. If it had a date picker before, it would crash CCS if any attempt was made to make setting changes. Starting a new form in an existing converted project that had no date picker before, does allow inserting a new in-line date picker and it works fine, looks a lot better.
It will take a little time to figure out what things consistently do not work but so far 5.1, with new projects is working well.

Same thing here. Here's the error I get from Firefox (tools => web console) when clicking the date picker:

Finally got the date picker to work. I had to delete and re-create the textbox to which it was associated. Then I re-created the date picker. I also deleted all the Javascript from the HTML header.
Now it works fine.

Deleting the "Include Common JSFunctions" and "Include User Scripts" sections and then regenerating fixes the jquery problems. However, the date picker and auto-complete have no style associated with them so just show the text and numbers. Pity.

All projects will be updated (if you want) to new JS libraries. All features, based previously at YUI, Prototype, ExtJS, etc will be moved to jQuery. It can sometimes lead to errors, especially if you edit autogenerated code blocks.
Of two evils choose the less :)
Also you can don't convert projects and use old js structures.

I was having the date picker and auto-complete style issue too until I started copying the following lines toward the end of the Head panel (I'm using designs) just past the last </script>.
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="{CCS_PathToMasterPage}jquery-ui.css">
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="{CCS_PathToMasterPage}ccs-jquery-ui-calendar.css">
If you view the source from the browser the CCS_PathToMasterPage is still there in the CCS generated section. It gets translated properly in the copied code.

Wow! 5.1 is the "buggiest" version ever.
If I convert an object to "hidden" it disappears completely. There is no way to determine where it is in the project. Then if I try to use it to hold a value of some kind, it doesn't work. Nothing.

On Windows 8 try setting "compatability mode" in Internet Explorer.
After upgrading to 5.1.0.18535 I found it necessary to copy the ../js/jquery directory to the server hosting my website and also copy ../js/modalStyle.css and../js/Services.js . It was also necessary to copy the directory ../styles/mystyle/jquery and ../styles/mystyle/images/jquery plus a couple of files ../styles/mystyle/ccs-jquery-ui-calendar.css and ../styles/mystyle/jquery-ui.css and /styles/mystyle/favicon.ico
To avoid errors with "jQuery not defined" ensure that your HTML page includes:
<script src="../js/jquery/jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
If you have edited your common.php file rename it so that a new common.php file will be created then re-apply your custom changes.
Remember that the Quick Publish will not publish all of the common files so you need to use either Publish Page or Publish Project.

I did some testing this weekend and found the following:
If you use page designs instead of styles you can rename a components in design mode.
If you use styles the first line in the html code <!DOCTYPE html> messes things up. The styles does not display correctly in design view and also not when published in the browser. If you delete <!DOCTYPE html> the styles will display correct in design view and you are also able to rename a component in design view. The problem is that as soon as you make a change in design view the line <!DOCTYPE html> is back in the html code.
Somehow styles are not compatible with this declaration.
I also tried the autocomplete but when I change the where clause in the service page from starts with to "contains like" the autocomplete its not working anymore.(Query issue) I submitted both to support.
The third problem I saw is if I use the autocomplete builder the popup window doesn't always appear. I think the window opens up because I see the screen flicker but the popup Its not displaying. Then I need to manually stop the CCS task because there is no other way to close CCS.

I must be a glutton for punishment, I upgraded from CCS_5.0.0.16254 to CCS_5.1.0.835. I have spent almost a day redoing a project that should have taken 4 hours. CCS 5.1 is slower than the previous version and locks up on occasion. Cut and pasting objects in a table is a real chore. Sometimes they move and sometimes they don't. Converting an old 5.0 project resulted in so may errors I just started over. After saving pages it decides to delete textboxes and other objects, just for the heck of it. This version is not ready for prime time.
To make things even worse, it failed to uninstall properly, and would not let the CCS 5.0 version correctly install. I had lots of missing menu items. Luckily, I found the answer on this forum and edited my registry to restore my old version. Now I am out of activations and have a request to reset my activation.
