Currently I use 5.0.
My question is: Do I have to buy the version 5.1 or can I just download and install it?

I think it's a downgrade in fact. It's barely usable on Windows 8.

I have de-installed version 5.1 and re-installed version 5.0..
To many issues.
5.0 works fine and stable.
Maybe in the next update of 5.1 I will give it a try again and spend some time on it.
It to much time consuming to test all function in my application and I have found 5.1 to have to many bugs and running slow.
