I am not able to convert projects from 5.0 s can't open any of my projects because the script to convert AJAX to jQuery stops with an error on line 1.
What is your experience? This is the first upgrade since CC 1.0 that is totally unusable for existing projects, for me.
I have a large project started in 3.1, converted to 4 and then 5.0 over the years but now can't be opened with 5.1018. I suppose uninstalling the beta and purging the registry is needed, to install 5.0 again.

I have the exact same issue.

Was not necessary for me to purge the registry to roll back...

Hi Michael, I tried uninstalling the 5.10168 or whatever version it was and afterwards was not able to reinstall the most recent "stable" release unless I removed all traces left behind of the beta in se registry so I assumed I would have to do that again.

I hope the conversion process gets resolved because the jQuery addition and other upgrades look interesting.
Did the newest beta work otherwise for new projects that did not require getting past the conversion process?

In the same boat. I cannot upgrade with all the ajax.
I have given up and will see what the release can do.....when it comes.

I don't understand the practice of converting all Prototype, YUI and
ExtJS javascript over to jQuery. Seems like an enormous amount of work
and headaches, which equates to unnecessary time and costs for everyone.

I think a simple addition of jQuery AJAX features would suffice and make
most of us happy, without touching existing javascript frameworks. Give
us the option of converting if we want - don't force it down our throats.

I don't like it at all, and I doubt I'll ever take an existing project
and convert it to 5.1. I'll start anew only. Where we've all known Yes
Software to make monumental poor decisions, this one has to top the list.

At the least, Yes could allow the beta to occupy different registry and cache space and act like a truly standalone version to the previous 5. This would give us the option.

Maybe the developers went to help desk and said "what will bring the number of support tickets down" and help desk said "out with PT and in with jquery" and the developers replied "but won't that upset the users " and help desk said "it does not matter, it's not like there aren't a few things they aren't upset with already" and the developers said "but we don't really know how to implement it" and help desk said "you always get the forum users and us to deal with that headache for years anyway, throw it at us, it won't make things that much worse for us than they are already".

Murphy was an optimist.
