We are using 5.0. Functionally, we love what is there.

5.0 - on my machine anyway, is very slow. Every action switching from code to design views takes significant time.

Was any of that improved with 5.1?

It seems to me 5.1 took a step backward. Every time I make a change to a form (add a label, change the name of a label) CSS reloads the list of files in the project view. This can take 15 seconds. Not much but it I have to wait 15 seconds for everything I type then I am impacted in how much work I can do in an hour.

I'd be happy if my delays were limited to 15 seconds each.
I'm looking at 45 second delays for certain steps while changing a form.

I gotta believe there's something uniquely wrong on my system because I'd expect to hear more dialog on this if more people were experiencing it. I have a pretty fast dual core development machine, and all other tools I use work very fast on it.

While I haven't used 5.0 for any of my main project, I can't say I notice any difference in speed between 4.3 and 5 (playing with 5.1 and again none of the issues you describe). My only tips are;

- Turn off the Autocomplete in the editor (nightmare)
- Make sure your machine has an SSD drive as codecharge does a lot of read/writes in general (that if you already haven't gone down this path)

Ben - I owe you Big Time.

T h a n k y o u.

I didn't go get an SSD drive, but ...
Your comment made me think about the fact that we store all source code on a network drive.
I just copied my project to my own machine, and everything is moving much, much, much faster.

You just saved me a ton of time.

Thank you so much.

Frank

Frank look at using a CVS/SVN/Git repository for your code management.
You can still keep the source on a network drive, you'll just have your
developers check code in and out of their local machines as needed.

CCS has built-in support for CVS.

No Problem Frank,

I will say regardless, get a SSD Drive. You will never want to get a machine without one.

I have exactly the same issue but cannot go back to a previous version.

Would this SSD drive make any difference? I don't have one and how come this is necessary?
