Maybe a simple answer but i am trying to link in a grid to a local path eg C:\Folder\File.xls from a database field but the link does not seem to work. it seem to put File:/// in front of the path making it unusable.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I guess you picking the file name through a form.
If yes, it is normal to have the file:/// prepositions. It is used, when you want the browser to open a file file for you. If you want the file name without this prefix, then you have the option to get the rigth part of the string using this http://w3schools.com/vbscript/func_mid.asp

You have to give the string and the position (length of the prefix) where you want the remaining part of the string.

Put it into the before insert/before update event.
