Hello all:
I am using FusionCharts (free) in a CCS project, unfortunately I have to hand write the php page that returns the XML file to the flash object. I was looking at the FlashChart component, it seems that this is *very* close to being hackable to use FusionCharts instead. The logic is pretty much the same, embed a flash object in the html which references a PHP file. The PHP file writes out an XML file based on your SQL query then returns this file to the flash object for rendering. As I see it the only things that would need to change are:
- change the flash object definition
>>>update the codebase, the one CCS uses is old and busted macromedia reference
>>>parameters, these are slightly different from the FlashChart SWF
>>>update SWF file reference based on the chart type, Fusion uses separate SWF while CCS is all in one
- update the class that writes the XML file as it is in a different format than the FlashChart
This seems simple enough, but how hard would it be to actually do? Any efforts to this end would be provided to the community of course

clahti2,
Just wondering if you searched the forums to see if anyone else has been successful in integrating FusionCharts?

I am successfully using FusionCharts, this would be a separate effort to make it easier to use. The built-in ChartBuilder so so close to what we need, this should not be a huge effort to create a new wizard component for FusionCharts. I have no experience writing a CCS component but it looks like just a bunch of XML files and PHP templates. This would be a great replacement for the current ChartBuilder component, frankly speaking the chart quality just, well sucks . I can continue to use my home rolled solution anyway until I have more cycles to see if I can hack together a new CCS component for this.
As you will probably agree the more we add to CCS as a community the more popular this tool will be, creating even more mind share. I am very Open Source oriented so I am fine with donating efforts such as this to the community. Another candidate for consideration is jQuery. Yes I know it can be used but a component set would make it much easier to integrate with your projects.

Well fusion charts are one of the best charts available on net. Yes they can be integrated with codecharge using iframe method. You have got to run an SQL query in a seperate page in fusion charts (available in the sample charts kit with the free fusion charts). However I have recently discovered yet another wonderful chrat software called amchart. This is flash base as well as javascript based. the amchart uses JSON data for creating the file. Our Codecharge gives us JSON through the service builder... and integration is not at all diffcult. You can actuattly run amcharts from within codecharge very easily and it accepts query seraches from codecharge with ease.In Another words, As a search query will update a table or a report on screen, it will also update the JSON data and thereby the amchart output. This capability tjough can be used in Fusion Charts as well through URL parameters passing . It is not very great when you have to refresh the data on the same page through a search button action. Yopu may contact me atamby2000@gmail.com.. and I am really exploring all the charts available on net for integrating with CCS. You may call me achart freak.. but I guess thats the best way a data can be presented attractively.
