Test SSL required pages on local server without SSL installed

Hi all,

I would like to be able to test pages that require SSL locally on WAMP which does not have SSL installed. The production server will have SSL.

This post http://forums.yessoftware.com/posts.php?post_id=72604 looked like something I could use but I realised that the function CCCheckSSL (in common.php) is not allowing the lack of https, if I'm not mistaken since I just get the message "SSL connection error. This page can be accessed only via secured connection.".

What's the best way to do this such that I can locally test the functionality of the pages without worrying about the secure part yet? Thanks for any advice.

Cheers,
Karen

Thanks, phpminer. I was hoping I didn't have to install SSL on the local test server and be able to put a condition such that if it's localhost, then don't require SSL. Looks like everyone has SSL on their local machines...

I replied with detailed instructions, but it got wiped out. Probably
because of the inline code. If I get time today I'll repost to my blog.

You're welcome.

To "datadoit": If you can, just post a "Gif" or "JPeg" of the solution -- to get around the inline code issue.

Thanks so much for the detailed steps, datadoit! I'm definitely trying this and won't attempt to install SSL on my local WAMP environment...I did start to try but already got stuck very early on! I'll update soon.
