The addition of a decent logging framework could be quite beneficial.
The framework would have multiple logging levels (e.g. critical, error, warn, debug etc.) which can be changed during runtime. For ex, the log level would be set to debug during development, and would be turned to error or critical in production, unless a problem emerges and then it could be turned down to debug again.
The connection object would have a parameter to run on SQL logging (with query execution times maybe?)
Have an option to turn on logging on CCS functions for debugging purposes.
Add the necessary logging methods for developers to put their own messages at various levels.
