Dear all

I am developing a document management system and i wish to be able to store the document references(the metadata) in a database and the documents will be in a location on disk. Has any body undertaken such a project before?. The system will have a search facility to locate specific files based on folder, month and year. I
I want to know whether the file upload control can be adapted to do this.

I also want to be able to implement some form of compression on the file as they are stored on disk and be able to make the application authomatically archive in another location rarely accessed documents and remove them from current folder

Any help would be appreciated

Regards

Livinus

Yep done this many times, but not the compression thing.

Always used the file upload control.
