I am a newcomer to CodeCharge and to web programming.

I have a form with five textboxes and a label. The label has a "Before Show" event, in which I assign a value to be displayed in the form's label. This appears to be working fine. However, when I click my Add button to add the user entered data on this form into a database record, the insert statement is not able to retrieve the label's value. It always shows up as being null.

I have placed several response.write commands in the main .asp code to display the assigned value of the label. These lines show that the label has a value while in the "before show" event, but not in the main .asp code.

Am I going about this in the wrong way?

Thanks in advance.

I was trying to use it as both... a display (read-only) field and to use the displayed value as a value to insert into a record.

I'll check out the hidden field option.
thank you.

DP, where is the data for the label coming from? If it is from the inserted
record, nothing will exist when creating a new record.

Please clarify.
