I think it would be a good incentive for CodeCharge developers to possibly get their site featured on the front page of http://www.yessoftware.com/ it would also be a good demonstration of the software.

To implement this you could use a voting system or simply a panel of judges at yessoftware.

An example of this is at: http://virtuemart.net/
Look for the 'Best Live Shops' module on the right hand side.

Is that the best sites or just all sites? Where do you submit your site and where do you rate a site/ find it's rating?

Also shouldn't it be called something like showcase rather than gallery?

Cheers,
Paul

imho that gallery is far from "best sites". There are very simple designs there. Never try to show that as "showcase".

Some of them are goods. Some other look as common templates. Some others looks unprofessional.

Sorry.

Hi

All submitted by CCS users. And it's up to the poster to supply link info.

Anyone can add a comment to any gallery post.

So Melvyn your comments would probably be appreciated.

Thanks

John

Paul

Anyone can post a gallery entry for their site. Also any entry can be commented on by anyone.

I am sure anyone who has posted a gallery entry there thinks that what they posted there has some value or consider it worth showcasing.

We did not implement a star rating system but that might not be a bad idea for us to consider in the gallery.

We did implement a star rating system for members software for sale.

John

BTW

Here is where you would add your CCS design or site.

http://ccselite.com/gallery.php?gallery_cat_id=2

To add your site you just need to select the category then click

upload image

You will be able to add a description and links if you want..

BTW

Here we let members showcase their code and software

http://ccselite.com/online_store.php

Here members can not only showcase their stuff but sell it as well.

We do have a star rating system for this showcase with members comments.

Since I answer in the wave of Paul's question I can suggest/comment something.

First: CCSElite isn't as this forum. This one is to solve problems and can't be modified to Melvyn's (or someone's taste), CCSElite can.

Well, It would be nice if some work can be rated. Let's say from 1 to 5 stars. Lot of 5 stars will say two things: 1) Much people like it; 2) those people think is good.

Maybe I was so hard in my last post because beauty don't mean usefull. :-) I think a system can be rated from those 2 ways: usefull and/or appeareance.

I'm sure some of those sites are pretty interesting in their functionality. I've made applicatoins using default CCS styles which are just smart and do the job.

(cont.)
Take theese examples:
http://sell4less.co.uk/ Posted by Zye.
It's a very good example! I work in real estate sites. I like it very much (in my case is useless because in my country we use another info, in another format, another layout, another standard). Anyways I think this work deserves 4.3 from 5 stars in CCS showcase.

http://scclub.co.nz/listings/results.php Posted by Troy.
He did the Job! It's a very simple application: a frontpage with an impressive image, that's good. A high customized grid :-) that grid is pure CCS with some hand job. it shows what you can reach if you know how to use the tool. take in mind he only added candy icons and customized the CSS, I take this as a very good example because it take the CCS "as is". General rating: 4.5

Now the other side. There's a saying in my country "the cord always break in the weaker side". This is not the case. Now the cord is breaking at the stronger side.
Let's take two examples: CCSElite and mentecky.com. I don't have anything personal agains Rick.
CCS Elite is an example of a medium size portal. Complex. It's a multipurpose application. Design is a very basic ccs style. I'm sure in no more than 30 minutes it can be done a nicer customized CCS style to become more atractive. A couple of hours of customizations in .css and some photoshoping can convert CCS Elite in another word example. Right now I can't give more than a 3.0 rating. Why? Application and functions: 5.0 (maybe less, because a lot of things can be improved). Visual style: 1.0. Some stanrdard look better. See this one in YesSoftware forums. www.mentecky.com is very plain, very standard. I don't believe that going with the wizard, generate and deploy.

Lot of good job can be disapproved by style.

Now let's figure out the hypocrite side: Me. Obviously I will say: mine is the best (because is mine, no more). I'm very bad in design. I can't handle something more than paint. I work with good designers which don't know what mean <a href="#">link</a> and they do a good job in photoshop.

1) http://www.lave.com.do if you enter, you'll see flash. Well, true, that's flash. powered by CCS. Backoffice: 100% CCS. The Login page is located at http://lave.sc20.info/admin/Login.php standard ccs customized. The flash is powered by CCS web services (ajax) which are tagged as xml insted of html (edited in codecharge's html view). flash receives the xml and show it.

2) http://vibinteractiva.com/portafolio Pure CCS. Somebody can look and will think "this is not CCS generated" and YES! That's a CCS grid, no more no less. I generated the grid and a third person applied the template to the grid (not the template designer), he took the html and applied everything.

3) http://www.unacajitadesorpresas.com which point to
http://www.unacajitadesorpresas.com/app/fotos.php http://www.unacajitadesorpresas.com/app/videos.php and http://www.unacajitadesorpresas.com/app/videos.php are all gallery builder.

I think you know what I mean: showcase what you can achieve using the tool. No less. There have no sense to build a CMS or blog application which will have less functionality than joomla or wordpress and will look worse and can't be patched with high class templates like joomla. capisci?

Melvyn

You are right CCSelite is not this forum. It is just another forum to compliment this one.

At CCSElite problems are posted and solved as well. We also allow the ability for members to sell their solutions to the developer's community at large.

We support the CCS Framework at CCSElite as well as any topics our community members want. We also respond to members suggestions as to what would make CCSElite more valuable to them.

If you have comments on any of the ,member uploaded gallery / showcase items, we all would appreciate that and quite possibly learn something from you as well.

John

I abandoned joomla 2+ years ago. It's an elephant. I hate joomla 1.5. It's good as cms, not so good for custom applications, and a resources hog.

The beauty templates in CCS is far away from joomla and more. I can have better management with designers. They have access to the html templates pages and modify at their taste, with my warnings: never touch the things inside { } and never touch the comment <!-- -->

I'm using CCS for backend only at around of half of my projects this year. Moved to extjs and hand code.

Well, I was going to enter CCSElite and post there, but.... It's down.

I posted here answering the question here. I've entered on CCSElite sometimes and got registered when the site opened. Never used it, don't know why...

BTW

Here is how CCSelite can solve problems and add value to the community.

http://forums.yessoftware.com/posts.php?post_id=106143

By extending the functionality of CCS ourselves, we make CCS a more valuable framework for all.

Also by having more resources supporting our favorite development environment, such as CCSElite, the CCS community just gets stronger and more viable.

I am curious if JCC would like to contibute his expansive knowledge and excellent solutions as well.

This post was only to answer a wish request and the wish is already mostly available, You just have to decide if you want to be involved in a potentially larger community of developers.

Do a google search on:

codecharge studio developers forums

What comes up as number one now???

Changes all the time

Or try a search on: codecharge studio developer

Wouldn't you like to be found???

Or try a search on : video in codecharge studio or calender in codecharge studio
Note: Member spelled calendar wrong. Just an example of our SEO.

Another search that brings up a members product : flash gallery in Codecharge studio

Wouldn't you like your solution to be found???

Also Try a search on: codecharge studio tutorials

LOL :-) even try codecharge studio gallery or created with codecharge studio or codecharge studio examples

What adds value to any community??

Maybe I do not know....

JCC I am sure you do. Go for it!!!! Add Some Value For Us Please..

:-)

mmm...

Regarding to google search of codecharge studio:

I've been always surprised of the lack of links with CCS resources. For a lot of time this was the only forum and now CCSElite. Most of the results in google point to duplicated reviews or downloads sites which copy some lines and link a download file. Most of the reviews are dated between 2002 and 2005. Why is CCS so unknown? Why are so little reference? Lot of developers see me as martian when using that strange tool.

When I try to demonstrate to some friend the use of CCS they refuse very fast because "it's too complex" which I don't understand. I find CCS very easy to use.

I'm sure CCSElite can add lot of value to the community. Value add can be better in atracting new people thatn converting veterans.

Exactly. That is how we grow our community.

Like PHP, Linux... etc has many support sites.

This is how we grow support and knowledge for CCS. One step at a time.

It takse a large community with many inputs and sources of knowledge.

We just want to be a part of supporting this powerful framework and really want to add value to the community in at large.

As with any community, we all need to support all.

We do not make any money running this site as you all know hosting a site cost cash. What we offer to the community hopefully has value.

The small precentage we keep for member's products sold helps keep the site up and viable.

Unlike Yes who sells the software for considerable price to support their site.

John:

Those results don't mean too much because not much people search for "codecharge" in google.
Check this:
http://google.com/trends?q=codecharge%2C+codecharge+stu...date=all&sort=0

In other order: You need a more stable server. I can't reach CCSElite around 80% of the time. I can reach any pages but ccselite. Maybe is my network or I'm unlucky...

Well, let's open a thread there to continue this conversation there. Maybe is more appropiate. Which is the forum for ideas?

ok

it's all irrelevant!! LOL

How does the number of searches on CodeCharge Studio mean S... to a tree????

Is the CCS community dead???

We all can add relevant content that can grow the community and have our own stuff get found. Maybe searching on Codecharge studio will become vialble again.

More examples of CCSElite solving developers problems:

Search on: calculate distance in codecharge studio using zipcodes
or
calculate distance with zipcodes in codecharge studio
or
artisteer and codecharge studio
or
breadcrumbs in codecharge studio
or
codecharge studio page load time

Anyway the SEO at CCSE seems to work ok.

Depends on your needs and wishes.

@jjrjr1, you get a less than positive response because you act as though you have this fantastic solution ready and CCS developers are just too dumb to see it. you answered this person's wish as if the requested feature was already available. well, first of all, the requested feature was for THIS website and it does NOT already exist. so it was a good suggestion. second, you have a grand total of 14 websites in your gallery and at least 4 of them were created by the owners of your site. and finally, as Melvyn bluntly pointed out...well you know what Melvyn said.

and, as I have stated before, when you respond to a post here with a link to an answer you post in your forum that is blatantly self-promoting and harmful to this community.

Hypocrisy comes by default in people. some in small dosages, and some in overdosage (as me)
