Hello,
I am writing a application to schedule classes for a school. Therefore DRAG&DROP field values from one cell to another (in an editable grid) would be a perfect feature.
Does somebody have a solution for my problem;
By the way: I think this would be a great feature (and a new dimension of productivity) for CCS 4.n or 5.0, woudn't it?
Achim

Hi
Yeah this would be a cool routine to develop. But, leave Y out of It. Let them worry about making CCS 5.0 a more bug free framework with the existing functionality. Artisteer integration would be more important since that is more in line with the reason for CCS at this time.
With respect to this feature. I think it would be fun to develop it. Probably will need to be a client side javascript custom code.
If you would like me to work on it, let me know and how much would it be worth for me to build it for you.
John

BTW. Drag from what component to what component in a grid?
Like from one field to another field or a list of data to a field???

Hi John, thanxs for Your reply.
To keep it simple, I think, it would be best, to drag one item at a time from one positionn to another.
Maybe the calender-builder is a good starting point.

Hi John,
here is my example:
I have two courses (of students), they are scheduled to use the pc-room on monday and tuesday.
Due to a change one course needs to be changed from tuesday to thursday. This should be done via drag&drop (for example in the calendar).
The booking-calendar at your ccselite.com could be another example to utilize drag&drop.
To take lonmg words short:
in an editable grid you drag an field-entry from positin X,Y to position U,V and save (autosave) everything.
If You plan, to start developing an component (extension, ...) I am willing to spend my share, by buying 1 or 2 licenses. If You prefer other types of salary, fine with me.

Hi dehnert,
K.I.S.
drag'n'drop may be a nice gimmick, but will it really make the system?
Just my approach...T

Drag and drop CAN make the system.
I recently did a Drag and drop report card for teachers where thye have pre-made comments and drag them over to the text area. They love it.

Hi ALL,
Is somebody able / willing to create a builder (service,...) for ccs-D&D?
JS is not my topic, but I would be happy to buy a license!

Yeah I do Achim
Just do not know when I will get a chance.
I am gonna take a shot at it as soon as I finish a couple of projects I am on right now.
I will let you know.
But if someone else does it before me, That would be great.
If I do, It will not be a builder but more like a drop in. The XML documentation for CCS builders is pretty poor and it is quite compliacted to do. I have not and probably nevcer will take the time to learn that.
I have created grid function drop ins before here is an example and, in fact, the idea came from here.

@CKROON
If you have done this in CCS, why not take the time and document it, make it a plug in for CCS and sell it here? http://ccselite.com/online_store.php
I would buy it instead of developing it.

BTW.
This only functions in IE right now.
I have not done the cross browser stuff yet.
So... Just run the demo in IE for now.

Hi,
I agree. I wouldn't mess with Opera either. Looks great already!!!
Can You do that in an editable grid and save new "situation" (the draged info)?
That would be PERFECT!!

Thanks All
@Achim
Yes it will drag & drop in records, Grids, Editable Grids, HTML input fields etc... and the data will uppate the database just as if the data was typed in.
It is implemented using CSS class types so you will not need to modify CCS HTML for it to work.
Any input tag can drag and drop from any input field to any other on the page. You can even set the input field to readonly in CCS and you can drag and drop into it from anywhere if you like. By doing this only approved data could be entered into the field if so desired.
You can also create any text in the HTML in a span tag with class=dragable and that text from the page can be dragged into a input field.
I am going to create a drag data generator for CCS so you can easily put dragable text into a database and can include that dragable text on any CCS page.
How much you guys think this is worth??
Thanks again
John

Ok Guys
FInally finished this thing.
Had to clean up some stuff with cross browsers and window scrolling.
Seems to be working great now.
Here is the demo along with the editor to generate CCS grids with dragable text automatically.
http://realtest.biz/DND
If you want to get this code / CCS Dropin go here:
http://ccselite.com/online_store.php?pid=29
Thanks for the inspiration
As Always, Have Fun!!!

He He
Someone playing with the demo caused me to add some more features.
Like dealing with text boxes and the difference in rendering html and text data with respect to newline characters.
Text boxes are fully supported now.
Also, Achim, I saw you pick up the code.
I have set it so you can re-download the archive with the URL in your e-mail
Have fun
John
