Hi, I recently move my production server. I am super happy. Thought I would pass along the details.

Old host:
iweb: dedicated box single processor p4 2ghz 1gb ram single 250gb sata drive $80/mth

New host:
linode.com slice on a quad processor x 3ghz xeon, 368mb ram 12gb on raid 1 drives. $20/mth

Now it may seem like i would suffer with way less ram and space. but my performance is at least doubled. much fast disks, and 4x3ghz xeon makes a huge difference.

and i dont even come close to using the 12gb. this is a web/database server, not a file server.

console access has been handy when initially installing. something that was a pain on my dedicated box.

mysql databases are about 5gb. i have them tweaked to use about 1/2 the available ram. And they just scream.

in the process of moving, i upgraded from debian etch to lenny. and use xcache instead of eaccelerator.

And of the course, the price rocks.

happy coding,

david
