I would like to ask any of you using Artisteer 2.0 is it is any help for CCS
projects. I just looked in the DOCs available on the web site and in the
Export to CCS section there isn't really much. The only thing so fat I have
found of help is the CSS templates that can be applied to Header and Footer
of CCS application. They say that application CSS have to be even modified
by hand. The software looks promising but I really hesitate to go for it
unless I can get some benefits from integrating it into CCS. Perhaps there
is more that I know, so I would appreciate sharing you opinions
(unfortunately it doesn't look like there is much activity in Artisteer
forum as well), and that's why I have posted this message here.

Thanks - Arthur

My 2cents worth on this, having just spent 2 days wrestling with it, is this....

Having followed the process from building a style set in Artisteer, then exporting the Codecharge Studio Project, then opening this project in CCS. The pages that are created by Artisteer - ie main.ccp have a set of record forms and grids which when published have the style as they displayed in Artisteer. Perfect! Love it! It all seems too easy... but wait.....

The fun begins when you go to create a new page and add a form or grid. You need to manually add around every form and grid the additional HTML code that associates the forms to the appropriate style. Using main.ccp as a guide you can see where the differences are.

If you do manage to get the code in to the right section (not easy if you are not in to coding like me) and the form displays correctly when published you will need to add this manual code back each time you modify the form or grid as the manual changes are lost each time.

So, if like me you have dozens of forms in a project you will need to manually add this additional HTML around each form or grid. Not something I am going to do myself - it's just too hard, which is a shame as it looked like a good easy way to get some great looking styles on my project...

So in my opinion it is of little use until you can create a form or grid using the standard CCS wizard which naturally includes the attributes for the style you created in the Artisteer Style set.

thanks for you 2cents! I guess it was worth reading...
it looks like we need to wait some more until Artisteer is more integrated
with CCS, from whay you say it doesn't look like it is much of help. I
understand that the whole purpose of buying this tool for me is to limit
hand coding so I can get the project ready quicker.

I wonder what the guys from Artisteer would say about it ? any near plans
to improve it ?

Arthur

err...

I added a page, I didn't assign a style and it inherited the Artisteer site style, it worked fine?

I'm doing something different?

I just have talked to Artisteer Cust.Rep. and they say that the way it works
it is that you must hand coding all pages so it basically means exactly what
the Waspman had said before. I use 4GL tools for quite a long and I'm not
attracted to hand coding at all. My customer doesn't really care if the
project was or was not hand coded, they want functionality (which is CCS)
and proffesional look (which is ...........NONE........), simply because
there is no products whic fultils good looking CCS apps.
You can you Dreamweaver and other tools but all of them are not suited good
for CCS. I was hoping that Artisteer will. At this moment Artisteer is not
ready for CCS at all and I will wait impatiently to see more integration.
For all of you planing to buy a product I would rather suggest to wait.
However if you do any Joomla/Drupal projects it works great and with some
minor improvements it would be really worth the money.

I would like you to share any tips for making CCS projects more apealing and
integrated with the design, without tedious hand coding.

It would sure be nice for planning to know what level of support and when there will be for CCS and Artisteer.

This link says Artisteer was purchased by Yes:
http://www.artisteer.com/?post_id=111597&p=forum_post&forum_id=15

Is that true? If so, then we should be able to get some answers on this. So far I have only played with Artisteer very little as I have been waiting for better integration/support.
