When using the file upload component, and selecting the location where the files will be uploaded, do you have to stay in your project directory? Can you even go to a different drive?
say my project runs off the c: drive, but do not want to have the file stored here, but on a mapped storage drive h: (tons of space). will it let me store/retrieve from this h: drive?

Have been trying this , and it's giving me an error.
Unable to upload the file specified in FileUpload1 - upload folder doesn't exist.
I'm trying to upload the files to a mapped drive on a different server.
I've fiddled with permissions and whatnot, and it's still giving me problems.
Anyone have similar issues?

Temp Folder and Upload Folder Created?
Also Remember that Mapped Drive maybe is not created for your IIS User.
For this we have try assigning IIS user a Current user then log and create a persitented Mapped Drive.
(Keep in mind that IIS will Log Twice first Time creating small Delay)
i havent try this in Upload but we use to Read an MDB for one customer so shoudl work for you:
\\MyServer\filesharename\directoryname\filename
we do this too
\\192.168.1.100\c$\MyData\whatever.mdb
try this if you get fail i will try to recreate a sample.

It's the Upload Folder. The temp folder is still on the local drive c: and works fine. For testing purposes I've tried to move temp folder to the mapped drive, and it gave the same error, but said couldn't find temp upload folder.
setting the upload file folder property to \\ccnet-fserver\s$\Uploads didn't work
trying \\192.168.0.48\s$\Uploads didn't work
I sent a support request in to Yes Software so I'll see what they say.

should work
but as i said you could use mapped drive H: L: etc, but you will have to created the mapped drive to the IIS user.

IUSR_servername or the IUSR for my codecharge studio server that is trying to access this mapped drive?

IUSR_servername (very tricky and dangerous since you will have to manipulate that user and password withou error)
Test in another Computer First
but \\servername\folder shoudl work i will check and create a small project this sunday at home when off duty and will let you know.
